Crossfit, dance night & trailrunning to celebrate IDUS in Swiss universities

17 September 2019

Swiss University Sports prides itself on being one of the most active National University Sports Federations and once again, on the occasion of International Day of University Sport, Swiss universities will take the opportunity to showcase just that.

Come 20 September, and there will be a whole range of activities on offer from St. Gallen to Bern, Lucerne to Lausanne. In fact, the University of St. Gallen is combining sport with a charity event and doubling the impact. They will host a CrossFitChallenge as part of this charity event, in addition to a 3-hour nonstop indoor cycling challenge. Even more interesting perhaps is the fact that the entire student body will get to vote on the next type of sport or sporting activity to be introduced next on the university sports programme.

The University of Zurich expects more than 1000 students to participate in IDUS related activities. The Academic SportsAssociation Zurich (ASVZ) Sports Week, from 21-29 September offers all students the opportunity to try out various sports and also to put on their dancing shoes.

Activities on offer include a social running event, early morning group functional training, a dance night, trail running and many more.

The Universität Luzern will hold 22 different activities on 20 September, running from 08:30 to 21:45, ensuring there is no excuse for not moving. The University of Berne is going one step further with ‘UniSport Start’ – a full sports event with a varied programme.

The line-up includes entertaining shows, massages and relaxation, photobooths for instant souvenirs and also well-known artist DJ Stone to provide the perfect ambience for fun.

The University of Lausanne, that has been actively involved in the Lausanne in Motion festival on a couple of occasions has some spcial classes and activities planned for the entire week starting 16 September, including African dance, Discofit and Zumba.
