Savate made its only appearance in the FISU programme in 2010, with the first edition of the World University Championship held in Nantes, France. Though no other Championships have been held, it remains a FISU recognised sport.

The History of Savate in FISU
Savate was introduced within the FISU programme in 2010 with the first edition of the World University Savate Championship held in Nantes, France. The championship gathered 62 athletes from 15 countries and was a large success for the French team as well as the teams from northern Africa.
